Viticultural and agricol farmstead : “EARL du Tonkin”
They grow 150 ha of crops (winter wheat, oil seed rape, winter barley) and 3.8 ha of vines (“quincy” white wine only : sauvignon vine). The soil kind is clay mixed with chalky.
Jacques and his son, Thibault, and 2-6 students are employed in the autumn and spring for the vines operations (cutting, take out buds and med to tie). The grape harvest is realized with machineries ; in this, they don’t need workforce. On top of that, they are memberships of a CUMA (all the machineries) and employer grouping (five permanent employed labour for five wine-growers) for the vines operations. Finally, 3 permanent employed labour work for 3 producers in the Brinay marketing cellar.
Concerning about the wine production, they produce 23 000 bottles per year (6 000 bottles/ha) and only 5% of the entirety is sold in foreign countries. 95% are sold to hyper markets, restorers and private individuals.
