Horses and donckey pole : “Pôle de l’âne”

The old estate (XV century) “Le domaine des amourettes” is composed of 107 ha of grasslands and crops, including 60 ha which are rented to others farmers.

The general council department bought this pole in 1999 in order to breed and conserve an old department donkey breed : “black large donkey of Berry”.

For this reason, they organize attractive equestrian events, even for donkeys. There is also a cross round for high level competitions (team races).

Consequently, they greet school groups, propose leisure : rambles and walks (possibility with donkey as guide), and people can come for vocational training.

The pole greets donkeys from an association (Berry black large donkey of berry French association). The idea consists in making this site a selection, reproduction and breeding center, and to promote male donkeys.

Like that, they can buy others donkeys each year. In this way, they can preserve this breed and avoid consanguineous problems.

They received the “Excellence rural pole” label tree years ago and there are again others plans. In the future, it will be an inevitable equestrian site and a touristic pole.
