Henry family farmstead : “GAEC Henry”

This farmstead products pigs, beef cattle and milk cows.

There are 4 persons who work on the farmstead (two brothers with their parents).

They grow 155 ha (AUA) : 60 ha of grass lands, and the rest of cereals  and oil-producing crops (crop rotation : winter wheat, barley, oat, oil seed rape and maize). These crops are transformed for the breeding feed.

They grow oil seed rape to produce oil, which is used for machineries and the boiler, like energy and maize for cows feed.

The milk breeding is composed of 70 cows. Its represents 650 000 liters quota and 150 000 are transformed on the farm (cheese, cream, milk, yogurt). These products are sold on the Wednesday market, at Sancoins.

Moreover, there are 12 “Aubrac” beef cows, transformed and sold from the farm (7-8 calves/year, 7-8 young cows).

Each year, 50-60 pigs are breeding and transformed on the farmstead. Pork products are preserved.
